about

A method shaped through discipline, sport, and years of personal experimentation.

Strength. Discipline. Awareness. Identity.

THE STORY BEHIND THE METHOD

My name is Luis Miguel Herrera.

My journey into coaching did not begin with a method or a business.
It began with curiosity.

Curiosity about performance. About the human body. About why some people change their lives while others remain stuck in the same patterns.

For more than a decade I have been immersed in training, nutrition, and personal development. What started with bodybuilding slowly expanded into endurance training, performance optimisation, and the deeper psychological side of human behaviour.

Along the way I realised something important.

Physical transformation is rarely just physical.

It is psychological.
It is behavioural.
It is identity driven.

That understanding eventually became the foundation of the Chosen Self Method

Early training years. Curiosity and discipline started here.

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND

My relationship with sport started early.

Before training seriously in the gym, my first sport was football. Like many kids, that was the introduction to movement, competition, and teamwork.

But the sport that truly captured my attention was basketball.

From the age of around twelve or thirteen, basketball became a daily part of my life. I trained and played for several hours most days and eventually played for my high school team. Those years taught me intensity, discipline, and the value of consistent practice.

Basketball shaped my athletic foundation.

Later on, bodybuilding entered my life and completely changed the way I approached training. It introduced me to structured strength training, nutrition, and the deeper discipline required to build a physique over time.

Along the way I also explored other sports and activities including surfing, volleyball, and swimming. Each one added a different perspective on movement and performance.

Today my approach to training reflects that mixed background.

Strength and physique development from bodybuilding.
Movement and competitiveness from basketball.
Endurance and resilience from running.

Together they form the hybrid perspective that shapes my coaching today.

Strength is not built in a single session.
It is built through years of repetition.

A DECADE OF EXPERIMENTATION

Progress rarely comes from a single program.

It comes from years of observation, trial, mistakes, learning, and refinement.

Over the past decade I have experimented with different training approaches, nutrition strategies, recovery protocols, and lifestyle structures.

Not everything worked.

But every experience added another layer of understanding.

That accumulated knowledge now forms the foundation of the systems I use with clients today.

Years of experimentation and refinement.

What looks like talent is often just years of quiet refinement

Present day. Training remains part of daily life.

PRESENT DAY

Today my focus extends beyond training.

My work is centred around helping individuals build structure in their lives, improve their physical and mental performance, and develop habits that support long term growth.

Some clients come for physique transformation.
Others for performance, health, or lifestyle structure.

But the deeper work is often the same.

Helping people reconnect with their own discipline, awareness, and potential

Understanding people will always matter more than controlling a program

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SIDE

Physical training was the door.
Understanding people became the deeper pursuit.

Through years of working with individuals and observing behaviour patterns, I developed a strong interest in psychology, neuroscience, and human development.

Although I do not hold a formal degree in psychology yet, I dedicate significant time to studying behavioural science, neuroscience, and the works of thinkers such as Carl Jung and others who explored the deeper structures of the human mind.

This curiosity continues to shape my coaching philosophy.

Because lasting transformation is rarely just about workouts or diet plans.

It is about understanding patterns, identity, and behaviour.

Character is built long before anyone calls it discipline

A PERSONAL NOTE

For a long time I believed that not specialising in only one field meant I was incomplete.

I explored many disciplines.
Training. Nutrition. Sport. Personal development. Psychology.

At one point I wondered if that made me a generalist without direction.

Over time I realised the opposite was true.

Each discipline added another piece to a much larger picture.

Today the work I do is the result of combining those experiences into something integrated and practical.

Not a borrowed system.
Not a trend.

But something built through years of personal experimentation, learning, and reflection.

The Chosen Self Method is simply the structure that emerged from that journey.

Strength is not only physical. It is also values passed from one generation to the next.

Progress is rarely dramatic.
It is the quiet result of disciplined actions repeated long enough to change who you become
